Truman Heritage Habitat for Humanity’s vision is a world where everyone deserves a decent place to live. They host a quarterly workshop series of 9 classes on topics to educate and empower first time homebuyers. If they complete all 9 classes they receive a certificate and tool kit to help them maintain their new home. These classes provide attendees with basic budgeting, saving, credit building and home maintenance skills.

These classes provide attendees with basic budgeting, saving, credit building and home maintenance skills.
Attendees who complete all 9 classes receive a graduation certificate & canvas tool bag filled with basic starter tools needed for simple maintenance to keep their home safe. Over 80% of attendees are women-led households in need of safe, decent, affordable housing for their families. By addressing unique challenges women face in the housing market, home ownership education promotes greater equity, financial security, and the opportunity to build generational wealth.
This year, Raytown Rotary Club received a $2,500 grant from District 6040 and matched the grant with $2,500 giving Habitat for Humanity $5,000, enough funds to purchase the tools needed to assemble 100 tool kit sets.
One of our members works for Habitat for Humanity and used the funds donated by our Club to purchase enough tools for 100 kits and brought some of the tools for our members to help assemble at one of our weekly meetings. Below are several photos of our members assembling the kits.
